Care Instructions

Fabric Care & Preservation

Artistry by Maryam creations use fine natural fabrics and handwork that require mindful care. Always follow the care instructions supplied with your garment.

Couture, Silk & Heavy Handwork

Dry clean only. Use a professional cleaner experienced with silk, zari and hand embroidery. Do not machine wash, hand wash, soak, tumble dry or apply stain removers. For a minor surface mark, gently blot with a clean, dry cloth without rubbing.

Use low heat only when necessary and never iron directly over embroidery or zari; place a clean muslin or cotton cloth between the iron and the garment. Apply perfume, deodorant and hairspray before dressing.

Storage & Heirloom Preservation

Store garments clean and completely dry in breathable muslin or cotton covers. Avoid plastic. Fold heavily embroidered pieces rather than hanging them, keep them away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity, and avoid tight stacking.

Air garments occasionally and change fold lines periodically to reduce permanent creasing. For moth protection, use clean cedar blocks, cloves or dried neem leaves kept away from direct contact with the fabric. Avoid chemical mothballs.

Thread Embroidery & Lighter Handwork

Where the garment care label permits washing, wash separately in cold water with a mild liquid detergent. Turn the garment inside out, handle gently and do not scrub, wring or soak. Machine wash only where the individual care label expressly permits it, using a delicate cycle and cold water.

Dry flat or in shade, never in direct sunlight or a tumble dryer. Iron inside out on low to medium heat and avoid direct heat over embroidery. Store only when completely dry, preferably in a breathable cotton or muslin cover.
